McGrady: I thought I would become Pippen. When I went to magic, I was 20 years old and I had the carry team.
Live broadcast, July 24 news McGrady was interviewed today when he was promoting his one-on-one league, during which he talked about his experience of joining magic.
McGrady said: “I thought I would become a player like Pippen. Grant-Hill is Grant-Hill. I didn’t know he was unhealthy. I thought he would be fine after the operation. Later, I became the core, a 20-year-old kid, carry team. I was only 20 years old at that time, and I needed to adapt to a core role quickly. I made efforts, and I didn’t know that I still had this ability.”
In the first season of joining Magic, McGrady averaged 26.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists.
