Live broadcast on August 16 according to the official announcement of the Canadian Basketball Association, Jamal Murray will miss the men’s basketball World Cup.
Murray said in an interview with reporters: “When I entered the training camp, I wanted to see how my body would react after a long and arduous season, and whether my body can participate in the competition at the highest level required by the World Cup.”
“After consulting with the team doctor and the team, it was obvious that I still needed further recovery, so I made a difficult decision not to participate in the competition. It is still my dream to represent Canada in the Olympic Games, and I will support the team to work hard every step in the process of pursuing this goal.” Murray added.
Rowan men’s basketball, general manager of Canadian Barrett, said: “We have been having many discussions with Murray and team doctors in the past few weeks. Obviously, Murray still needs to recover further. This made him unable to join our team in the World Cup.”
The 2023 men’s basketball World Cup will be kicked off at the end of this month. Canada will be divided into group H together with Latvia, Lebanon and France men’s basketball.
