Porzingis wrote: This is very difficult. I am very responsible for myself and the fans who support Latvia, but I have decided not to participate in this men’s basketball World Cup.
After several weeks of recovery and repeated MRI, my foot fasciitis injury still did not allow me to play. I will not participate in the World Cup. This decision was made by the medical staff of the national team, the coaching staff and the Celtics-their opinion to me is to continue to recover.
It is not easy to make this (absent from the World Cup) decision, but I promise that I will be present with the team when the time comes, and I will do my best to support my motherland, Latvia!
In this men’s basketball World Cup, Latvia was divided into group H together with Canada, Lebanon and France. This men’s basketball World Cup was jointly held by Indonesia, Philippines and Japan, and all competitions will start on August 25, end on September 10.
