Downs: Playing for Dominica is because mother’s time is right now.

Speaking of representing Dominica in the World Cup, Downs said: “This decision takes many factors into consideration, and the time is right now. Last season, I didn’t put too much pressure on my body because of injury. I feel very good now. My state has recovered to 100% and I feel that I have found myself again. This is a perfect time. With my mother’s death, I urgently want to fight for my country.”
Downs’s mother was a Dominican, and she died of the epidemic in April 2020.
Downs was born in the United States and has dual nationality of the United States and Dominica. He first represented Dominica in the international competition in 2012. At the age of 16, he helped Dominica win the championship of the Central American championship, and participated in the 2013 American championship.
