Live broadcast on August 4th according to Rod Boone, a reporter from Charlotte Observer, PJ-Washington and Wasp have reached a deadlock in contract negotiations, and they have not made any progress in reaching a new contract, neither side seems ready to give in to the other side’s demands.
The Hornets obviously want Washington to return, but they are not willing to sign a long-term contract with him, which may indicate that they are interested in exploring other options.
According to Marc Stein, Washington is currently a restricted free agent, and he wants a contract much higher than the full middle class (with an annual salary of about $16 million or more), but at present, there is no team in the market that has enough space to open such a contract unless it is signed first and then changed.
Stein said that Washington was expected to accept the qualification offer contract (about 8.5 million) issued by the Hornets and then become a completely free player to test the free market next summer.
