McGrady: Jordan didn’t break through the first round before Pippen truly became Pippen.

McGrady said, “look at some great players in the league. I’m not saying Magic Johnson is lucky, but magic plays with many terrible Hall of Fame players. I’m not saying Larry Bird is lucky, but he also plays with many Hall of Fame members.”
“Jordan is not so lucky to play with many Hall of Fame players, but he has a strong partner Scotty-Pippen. But if you look at Jordan before Pippen became Pippen, Jordan is just a player with excellent personal ability. Before Pippen truly became Pippen, Jordan did not break through the first round or go deep into the playoffs.”
